Blossoming Trees at Memorial Parks

From National Mall and Memorial Parks:

They’re coming!!! George Mason Memorial’s tree blossoming menagerie also includes early-blooming weeping cherry trees. These are on their own roots and bloom before the famous Yoshinos on the Tidal Basin. You'll find some on Hains Point and along the Washington Channel (photo here, taken March 18th, 2016.) After the Yoshinos bloom you’ll see the park's later-blooming weeping cherry trees open up. The later bloomers sit on roots other than their own and bloom consistent with the root stock.

You can also see Saucer Magnolias and a spectacular early weeping cherry at the Smithsonian Castle’s Haupt Garden near our NPS Smithsonian-National Mall Metro Kiosk. You can pick up a map at the Kiosk to guide you to George Mason Memorial.
